I have the distinct pleasure of playing two gigs in NYC with one of my improvising heroes, Ted Brown. Ted is a tenor saxophonist out of the Lester Young tradition and a spontaneous improviser like his colleagues from the Tristano School, Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh. Joining me and Ted for these quartet dates is Murray Wall-bass and Taro Okamoto-drums. Murray and Taro having been playing with Ted recently and were once the rhythm section of choice for Marsh.
